Honoring Saint Clare

Petitioning saints for help is something that is usually seen in Catholicism, but there are plenty of magical traditions that blend Catholic aspects with aspects of paganism, voodoo, or other faiths. Saint Clare, or Santa Clara, is a popular saint for removing blocks in your life, clearing your mind, and reducing your anxiety. She can be petitioned whenever you are experiencing difficulties or fear.

The History of Saint Clare

Clare was born into a life of privilege. The child of wealthy Italian nobility, she followed in her devoutly Catholic mother's footsteps by being extremely pious, even as a young child. She became of marriageable age, and, instead of marrying a boy from another wealthy noble family, chose to join an order of nuns. She dressed herself in all of her finery, and, with only one handmaiden for company, went to dress in rags and shave off her beautiful blonde hair.

When her father found out she had left, he was enraged. He tried to bring her back by force, but, when she pulled off her veil and showed him that she had shaved her head, he relented. She eventually founded an order of nuns, for whom she was an example of piety and humility. Clare was so pious and humble, in fact, that the Pope wanted to have her canonized immediately upon her death. Even today, she is a shining example of the virtues of courage, devotion, and faith.

Petitioning Saint Clare

Saint Clare showed remarkable bravery and grace under fire for the entirety of her life. Call upon Saint Clare for aid when working for purification or to remove blockages, and let her peaceful faith and humility work for you. Use Saint Clara Floor Wash, mopping your home from the back to the front, and ask her to remove any obstacles to your home's peace and happiness. If you need to clear your mind and alleviate anxiety, wear a little Saint Clara Sachet Powder, or apply some Saint Clara Perfume.

Blessed medals with the figure of Saint Clare on it are powerful talismans for protection. To help prevent psychic attacks or overcome addictions, dress and light a white candle on a Monday while requesting Saint Clare's help. Some people choose to set up permanent altars to Saint Clare in their homes, with candles, pictures, or statues of her. In addition to helping to remove blockages and ease your mind, Saint Clare may also be petitioned for situations involving embroidery, telephones, televisions, or healing from eye disease. Dress a blue candle with Saint Clara Oil or Healing Oil, and ask for her help when dealing with disorders involving the eyes or vision.

A Prayer to Saint Clare

The feast day of Saint Clare is celebrated on August 11. When offering a prayer to Saint Clare, light a stick of Saint Clara Incense and sit somewhere peaceful. Try to clear your mind, focus on your breathing, and calm yourself. If you are working toward a specific goal, light an appropriately-colored candle dressed with Saint Clara Oil. When you are ready, say the following prayer:

"O glorious Saint Clare!
God has given you the power of working miracles continually,
and the favor of answering the prayers of those who invoke your assistance in misfortune, anxiety, and distress;
we beseech you, obtain for us from Jesus,
through Mary, His Blessed Mother,
what we beg of you so fervently and hopefully,
if it be for the greater honor and glory of God and for the good of our souls.
Saint Clare Pray For Us Amen."

Saint Clare is one of the most common Catholic saints called upon by rootworkers, lightworkers, and other practitioners, for good reason. Her influence is subtle, but powerful. To all those who ask her for help, she offers relief from anxiety, addiction, fear, and blockages of all kinds. Offer her a prayer when you are experiencing doubt or worry, and let her help you.
